How use?

    Elementary, My Dear Watson!
  1. Choose a tunnel in the table and add it to the cart by clicking the "Get" button. You may choose the tunnel on the map by clicking on the button "Add to cart".
  2. Open your cart. You will see the list of the tunnels you have chosen. Make sure the automatic verification status of the tunnel is set to "Working".
  3. Finally, pay for your order by clicking on the "Pay with balance" button, if you have registered at GetSSH, or "Quick Purchase", if you want to acquire the tunnel without registration.
  4. Open your history.

You can obtain a replacement of the non-functioning tunnel under our three-day warranty by the following procedure:

  1. Open the purchase history of your account and locate the tunnel causing trouble.
  2. Look at the adjacent "Replace" column. If it reads "Check", click on the button to check the status of the tunnel and send your request for replacement.
    • If it reads "Old", the warranty has already expired.
    • If it reads "Replaced", you have already replaced this tunnel once.
  3. When the verification of the tunnel is finished and the system confirms the tunnel is not working, its status would be updated as "To Replace". Your account balance would be increased by the amount you have paid for the faulty tunnel, which you must spend until the warranty expires. If the verification system assures the tunnel is working, the status would be updated to "Working".

ATTENTION, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THE WARRANTY OF THE REPLACED TUNNEL EXPIRES ON THE SAME DAY AS THE WARRANTY OF THE FAULTY TUNNEL.

Use the SSH client software, such as PuTTY, plinker or Bitvise to connect to the SSH tunnel. We recommend using programmes with simple user interface based on the plinkconnection tool, since, according to our research, they are the most reliable and bug-proof. One of the alternatives to the programmes listed above is plinker, which can be freely downloaded from the Internet. Another option is to download the GetSSH bundle which takes care of all the fuss you may encounter.

In some cases, the connection to the SSH tunnel can be disrupted if the compression is enabled. If the aforementioned happens, please disable compression on connection in your client. For instance, if your client uses the plink tool, remove the -C parameter.

  1. Open Firefox Preferences tab
  2. To "Network"
  3. Button "Settings..."
  4. To "Manual proxy configuration". SOCKS settings should be the same as in the SSH client (Host: 127.0.0.1, Port: 8081 are enabled by default). Please check the port of your SSH client!
  5. Apply the changes.
  6. If everything is alright, you are connected to the SSH tunnel! Please check your IP to make sure the tunnel works properly.
  1. Open Chrome Preferences
  2. Show advanced settings
  3. Network > "Change proxy setting..."
  4. "Connections" tab > "LAN settings"
  5. Tick "Use proxy server for your LAN"
  6. Click "Advanced" button
  7. SOCKS settings should be the same as in the SSH client (Host: 127.0.0.1, Port: 8081 are enabled by default). Please check the port of your SSH client!
  8. If everything is alright, you are connected to the SSH tunnel! Please check your IP to make sure the tunnel works properly.
  1. Open Profile > Proxy servers
  2. Click "Add..."
  3. Choose Protocol "SOCKS Version 5". SOCKS settings should be the same as in the SSH client (Host: 127.0.0.1, Port: 8081 are enabled by default). Please check the port of your SSH client!
  4. Click OK
  5. Click "Yes" and "ОК"
  6. If everything is alright, you are connected to the SSH tunnel! Please check your IP to make sure the tunnel works properly.

Open your favourite terminal emulator and execute the following command:

ssh login@host -p port -C -N -D 8081 -v

where login, host and port are the login, ip address and port of your SSH tunnel.

In some cases, the connection to the SSH tunnel can be disrupted if the compression is enabled. If the aforementioned happens, please disable compression on connection in your client. For instance, if your client uses the plink tool, remove the -C parameter.

Region-specific DNS addresses may compromise your privacy and anonymity.

  1. Open Network and Sharing Center
  2. Change adapter settings
  3. Right-click on the connection -> Properties
  4. Choose "Internet Protocol Version 4"
  5. Click "Properties"

If you do not trust Google, DNSCrypt is a more secure alternative.

Browsers supporting WebRTC, such as Firefox and Chrome, are prone to a serious security flaw which allows leaking of the true IP address.

In Firefox:

  1. Type about:config in the address bar
  2. Press ENTER
  3. Find media.peerconnection.enabled
  4. Double click the line to set the boolean parameter to "false".
In Chrome, the security issue can be evaded with the WebRTC Block add-on.

There are multiple ways to stay anonymous in the Internet: virtual dedicated servers (VDS), SOCKS', TOR network and so on. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. SOCKS proxy servers are short-living, VDS's are tremendously slow, TOR is often blacklisted. SSH tunnels are different - most of them endure for long periods of time without relinquishing their speed. Furthermore, SSH tunnels are simply cheaper - would you like to pay less for more?

    The Blacklist group contains tunnels which are included into the major lists of blocked sources;

    Low tunnels are not blacklisted by whoer.net, but ip-score.com rates them as low-risk;

Members of the Clear group are not listed by whoer.net and ip-score.com as suspicious.

The Clear status does not guarantee, however, that the tunnel is trusted by *all* providers.

    ProxyScore ProxyScore Probability of Fraud
    0.5 15%
    1.0 30%
    2.0 60%
    3.0+ 90%

The Proxy Score ranges from 0 to 4, and shows the probability that the ip address of the SSH host is in public access.

The Proxy Score of 1 and 2 indicates the low and medium risk, while the score of 3 and greater shows the high risk. Fully anonymous proxies bear the Proxy Score of 0.

It depends. With a lifespan from hours to months, SSH tunnels are in general stable. Even if the tunnel goes down, most probably it will go up again.

The SSH tunnels are open on PCs, servers and routers around the world. The stability of the tunnel depends on them, and if the host is rebooted or shut down, the tunnel would not work - c'est la vie.
